In my years of time working I would say that looking back now at my first job I will place it ranking at a 5. Since it was my first job I didn’t really have anything to compare it to. I was happy that I had a job but I knew it wasn’t a job I wanted for the rest of my life. Looking at the graph I know there was a lot of fluctuation with my job satisfaction. What I realized between the highs and the lows is that they both do not last for a long time. The high usually lasts for about a year, then it becomes a low. There is no plateau during the highs and lows. The only time there is a plateau is during year 6 and 7. I was working at an elementary school as an instructional aid for special Ed   I really enjoyed the job. However, the second year there is about the time I graduated college so I wanted a different experience but because I enjoyed the education setting at that point in time I decided to teach English abroad. That caused for my job satisfaction to peak at it’s all time high. I think because for once I was the one in charge of picking who my employer was going to be and that helped me feel more satisfied. Unlike working in the USA, yes I was interviewing for different schools but because I was in high demand I was the one who got to choose where to go instead of waiting for an employee to let me know if I got the job or not. I think that is what contributed a lot to my highest job satisfaction.
