This week, you begin the Scholar-Practitioner Project by selecting a topic and public health issue in which you have interest or experience. For example, if the topic you selected was infant mortality, you might narrow the breadth of this topic by examining how infant mortality is impacted by a public health issue such as maternal diabetes, prenatal care, or low birth weight.

Pending Instructor approval, the issue that you select will become the focus of your four project components (conducting research, letter to the editor, research policy brief, and advocacy pitch). In addition, you will share information about this issue during your weekly Discussions, as many are intended to support the completion of your Scholar-Practitioner Project.

By Day 7 of this week, submit the following:

• In 1 or 2 sentences, identify the topic and public health issue you have selected.
• In 1 or 2 sentences, explain why you have selected this topic and public health issue.

By Day 7 of Week 2, your Instructor will provide feedback.
