Implications for occupational therapy- based on this condition
Self created case study and Intervention plan
Create a 2-3 sentence scenario about a child and the child’s family with this condition. Include the child’s age and limitations specifying the child’s functional occupational performance strengths and challenges. Using bullet points identify 2 goals specific based onidentified functional performance challenges.
For example, a 5-year-old child with spastic cerebral palsy exhibits difficulty grasping a spoon.
Goal: Child will grasp an adapted spoon for self feeding for 2-3 scoops per meal with minimal assist.
Intervention Plan:
Warm up- sensory motor activity decreasing spasticity overall- slow rolling on ball or swing
Therapeutic activity 1- activity to increase PROM & AROM on upper extremity prepare for use- over ball reach & grasp with rotation
Therapeutic activity 2- activity to prepare erect sitting for functional activity- straddle therapy roll complete puzzle with grasp & rotation
Functional Goal- Use of adapted spoon to feed self apple sauce while seated in an adapted chair providing all support
