activity

For 2 weeks straight, you are to engage in some stress management / relaxation technique for 10-15 minutes per day then report on your experience as explained below.

Activity

Begin by choosing an activity you wish to take on and engage in for 14 days. Here are some ideas: walking, jogging, stretching, bicycling, swimming, weight training, jumping rope, yoga, Tai Chi, meditation, progressive relaxation, body scanning, visualization, repetitive prayer, listening to soothing music, painting or coloring, journaling about 3 things for which you are thankful, something you wish for or dream about, or a positive experience you had during the day.  The idea is to try something that you do not currently practice each day and stick with it every day for 2 full weeks.  If you are interested in body scanning meditation or visualization, here are sample audio/video guides: Body Scan Meditation or Visualization – Forest.

Each day before you engage in your activity, track your overall mood using a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being very negative, 5 being neutral, and 10 being very positive.  You should also track how you feel, use a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being very agitated, 5 being neutral, and 10 being very calm.  When you finish your activity, once again, track your overall mood and how you feel.  Write down this information every day and even though you need not submit it, you will need to summarize your overall results in your report.

At the end of the 14 days, review the tracking of your moods and feelings throughout that time period, and to prepare to write your essay, evaluate the findings of how your mood and feelings changed or did not change.

Writing

Begin your essay by clearly describing the stress management / relaxation technique you chose to use.  Then discuss the findings that you tracked each day before and after engaging in your activity.  Be sure to thoroughly address what you originally expected to find and then anything that may have surprised you, as this is 25% of your grade on the essay.

Next, write an overview of your technique in reference to the benefits to your psychological well-being.  You should also address any challenges you encountered and what you learned from the overall experience.  Lastly, be certain to disclose whether or not you intend to continue to use the technique in the future.  Again, please provide a thorough discussion, as this part is also worth another 25% of your grade on the essay.

Key Legal and Ethical Concepts in Mental Health Nursing

  1. Describe the difference between implied consent and informed consent and give an example of each.
  1. Discuss how confidentiality and privacy may create ethical dilemmas in nursing.

Family system

Understanding your family system can help provide useful information when working with families. Family systems may be open or closed. Open family systems involve acceptance of all family members as equal participants in the family. For example, children may be included in family decisions. Closed systems involve an authoritarian approach to family structure. For example, children are not included in family decisions. The strategies associated with family systems can help families explore the inner workings of their family structure.

In this Application Assignment, analyze family systems related to family systems theory.

The assignment (2–3 pages):

  • Explain whether your family system, or one with which you are familiar, is an open or closed system. Justify your response.
  • Explain how family systems theory applies to your family (or the one that you selected). Include a detailed analysis of the subsets, boundaries, family rules, and feedback loop or loops.
  • Based on your responses above, explain how your family system, or the one you selected, is unique.

Your thoughts?

Paper assignment 2

Papers must be a minimum of 4 pages.

1. Describe an experience you have had that demonstrates the interaction of person and situation. This may involve different reactions to similar stimuli due to a change in situation (context).

Please answer the following questions: Is there any cultural variation in the way the situations you describe influence people’s behavior?

In other words, do people from different cultures react to these situations differently than you do?

How might different types of knowledge (Legal, ideological, etc.) alter the perspective of persons of other cultures in this same situation? For example, in class we looked at an ambiguous picture of men dancing or fighting. Whereas everyone saw the same picture, their interpretation of what was happening differed.

Clinical mental health counselors, like doctors and lawyers, practice in specialty areas. These areas are specific to client issues or populations for which the counselor has had advanced clinical training and experience. Often, counselors enter a training program with an idea of client issues or populations for which they have a passion to work. These specialty areas include, but are not limited to, drug and alcohol treatment, eating disorders, trauma, crisis management, depression, and anxiety.

At this time, you may have an idea of the client issue or population with which you would like to specialize. You explore your choice in this Discussion to help you either confirm your choice or help you realize that your true passion may lie with a different issue or population.

To prepare for this Discussion:

Review Chapter 12 in the course text, Orientation to the Counseling Profession: Advocacy, Ethics, and Essential Professional Foundations, focusing on client issues. Think about the client issues and populations with which you would and would not be interested in working.

In the Walden Library, choose a video that demonstrates a client population or client issue that interests you. Think about why you selected this video.

Review the media, noticing what the clinical mental health counselor does during the video.

After reviewing the video, reflect on anything that surprised you in the video.

Think about any insights you gained or conclusions you drew about client issues and this population from the video, noting specifically if anything reinforced your desire to work with this client issue or population.

Phi 103 week 4

Week 4 journal

Do Social media hinder interpersonal relationships?

Reflect back about what you have learned in this course about how to construct high quality arguments for positions. Give an example of how the ability to construct good arguments could help you in your career or in your daily life. Also, in what ways will the skill of being able to evaluate the quality of reasoning better enable you to discover what is true and to make better choices? (Give a specific example of each).

Finally, consider the argument you have been developing for your writing assignments. How has considering objections helped you clarify your perspective? What might you add to your argument to make it more convincing in light of those objections? What points would you recommend that people keep in mind in order to be fair to both sides?

Your journal entry must be at least 250 words. You do not need to follow APA style for this journal entry, but you should proofread your work to eliminate errors of grammar and spelling.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.

Why is it necessary for the respiratory and circulatory systems to work together?

The respiratory and circulatory systems must work together to provide oxygen to the cells.

In the cells a process called cellular respiration takes place. Cellular respiration uses the Kreb’s cycle to produce energy in the form ATP needed for the cell to function. Oxygen is necessary for the Kreb’s cycle to work.

The carries Oxygen to the cells by binding the Oxygen to the hemoglobin on the red blood cells. When the blood reaches the cells Oxygen is released into the cells that are depleted of Oxygen. Carbon Dioxide is taken up by the blood in return.

The blood then returns to the lungs where the Oxygen rich content of the lungs causes Oxygen to flow into the blood.

The is essentially the lungs and diaphragm. The function of the respiratory system is to get Oxygen to the lungs where it can be absorbed by the blood. ( Also to get the Carbon Dioxide out of the blood)

The respiratory system provide the Oxygen that the Circulatory system provides to the cells.

Behavioral Disorders

The most common childhood disorders tend to fall into one of two categories: behavioral disorders or emotional disorders. This assignment will focus on the behavioral disorders of childhood, which include the following:

  • Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)
  • Conduct disorder (CD)

In this assignment, you will gain a better understanding of the similarities and differences among these three disorders by filling out the behavioral disorders template provided.
