Hypertension is the most common condition affecting many populations. The blood pressure consist of two forces the top number reading (systolic )pressure on which occurs as the blood pumps out to the heart and into the arteries. The second force is the bottom number (diastolic) which is when the heart rests between heartbeats. Hypertension is serious condition that can lead to other health problems such as heart attack, stroke, chronic heart failure, and kidney disease.

According to the CDC about 75 million Americans have high blood pressure making it 1 of every 3 adults. Blood pressure varies by age. The most affected are men. However for people 65 years or older high blood pressure is mostly common in women than men. There are many factors that can lead to high blood pressure such as hereditary, obesity.

High blood pressure symptoms include, dizziness, vertigo, headaches, vision changes, chest pain, ringing in the ears, difficulty breathing, irregular heartbeat, and confusion. All of these symptoms could lead to heart attack or stroke if you do not seek medical attention.

You can lower your blood pressure by making some lifestyle modifications. In fact my mother is one of those persons who was successful on lowering her blood pressure by changing her diet and losing weight. Up to this day her blood pressure is well controlled. Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits, whole grains, vegetables and low fat dairy products, can help reduce your blood pressure. Exercising is another way to help lower BP by exercising at least thirty minutes daily you can bring your blood pressure down. Overall your lifestyle plays a major role in treating your blood pressure and those changes can really make a big impact on how well you can control your blood pressure and stay off medications.
