Professional Competency addressed in this Assignment:

Directions

Select a health topic of interest such as breastfeeding, coronary heart disease, or juvenile diabetes that affects a specific population such as older adults or women of reproductive age or race. Locate health statistics for your selections. You must include national and state data. Your work may also include local county or city data if available.

Additionally, research content regarding concepts of multiculturalism and diversity, and include interventions that address health disparities.

Input your responses using a table similar to the one below. You may recreate the table in Word©. A Word document version of this table is available in Doc Sharing. Excel© files are not accepted. Include a title page and reference page. Length of Assignment should not exceed 3 pages.

Data Search Directions	Summarize Your Findings
Identify the population of interest and health condition/event to your practice. Specify how you define the population (e.g. age, gender, health status, etc.).
Summarize your search process. Specify what sources, organizations and agencies for health statistics were searched to find relevant health statistics. Be specific and thorough in your search.
Provide the health information obtained in the search. Include any significant statistics and information on risk factors and trends in epidemiology data on your topic.
Interpret your findings and determine if there is any evidence of health disparities based on the population examined. Be sure you understand what health disparities are and address if your topic is or is not impacted. Provide several examples and include interventions that would improve this disparity.

HCA459: Senior Project

TOPIC/TREND: As an administrator, address the challenges of employee recruitment and retention of health care professionals. Additional subtopics may include trends in the nursing workforce, shortage of primary care physicians, staff turnover, retention, and staffing patterns.

 For this assignment, focus on a specific contemporary trend in health care and be sure to include all of the following influences:

• Changes in client characteristics
• Regulation of the health care industry
• Reimbursement patterns and mandates
• Restructuring of health care organizations
• Impact of technology
• Ongoing social and ethical factors

Address the information above as it pertains to your selected topic, in an eight to ten slide (excluding title and reference slides) PowerPoint presentation.

Your presentation should conclude with a summary describing the following concerns:

• Overall, why should health care managers be aware of this change and trend?
• What impact does this trend have on the stakeholder groups involved (e.g., patients, providers, administrators, third-party payers, legislators, etc.) for a specific organization specified (e.g., for profit, nonprofit, hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, etc.).

The information in this presentation will later be used as part of your Senior Project to set the context for the audience you select for a training program on the contemporary trend identified here.

Your presentation must include detailed speaker’s notes (i.e., at least 150 words) for each slide as well as a minimum of one to two scholarly sources from the Ashford University Library and one to two current, scholarly web sources.


Your presentation, and any citations used, must be in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Examples of scholarly web sources are available in this week’s recommended websites. These sources will also count toward the required sources for your Senior Project. Your presentation must be engaging and relevant to your audience. Lines of text on a slide will not be sufficient for this assignment. It should contain images, graphics, and/or multimedia that communicate your training program clearly to your audience. Review the articles in your background information regarding mental health and green space.

1. What measurements were used to assess mental health in the articles you read? How were these measurements related to green space?
2. Analyze the amount of green space in your area using the following Park Land website. Go to the following website (http://parkscore.tpl.org/rankings.php) that ranks 100 major US cities on their current ability to meet the need for parks. Find the major city listed that is closest to where you live.

How does this city rank? What does the ranking mean?

What percentage of your city is considered Park Land?

Look at the historic data (also found on the left of the website) for your city over the last 3 to 4 years- has it increased or decreased its percentage of park lands? Compare this to the national median data percentages located at the bottom of the historical data chart.

3. How does your city compare? List this data in your report.3.Make some predictions about the effects of the availability of green space on mental health in your chosen city. Do you think your chosen city could improve its current amount of greenspaces. In what ways?
