Discussion: Climate in Your World 1

You’ve studied weather forecasting and climate zones. How would you use this knowledge in your life?

  • Imagine you are attending a climatology conference in another city and state next week. Select a city and state.
  • To prepare for your trip, you research the climate and projected weather forecast for the week of your visit. Describe the conditions you expect based on climate and those you can expect based on the projected weather forecast for the area.
  • Respond to at least one of your classmate’s posts.

Look at one Jeremy’s post:

I’m going to a conference in Boston, Massachusetts. Boston, Massachusetts, according to the Köppen system, has a mild mid-latitude climate. Since this is May, I don’t think I have to prepare for snow, but average low temperature this time of year are 50.2°F and the average high temperature is 66.7 °F. Typical monthly precipitation for May is 3.24 inches. The weather next week is projected to be cooler because of a weak front, so I’d better take a jacket.
