What is a stereotype and how does it develop?

Although some progress has been made in the elimination of prejudice in the United States, a large amount still exists both here and around the world. People tend to notice differences more than similarities and often attribute excessive importance to the differences. In this activity we will explore how stereotyping can lead to prejudice which in turn can lead to discrimination. As you create your discussion post, consider the following:
