Should Kelly and David pursue in vitro fertilization (IVF) and PGD or not?

Kelly is 28 years old and trying to decide if she an her husband are ready for parenthood. She learns that her mother has breast cancer at 48 and has Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome due to an autosomal dominant mutation in the BRCA 1 gene. Kelly is tested and she has inherited the BRCA 1 mutation from her mother. Kelly wants to have a child right away, so that she can enjoy being a mother right away before she develops cancer. Her husband David is not sure about having a child knowing that breast cancer likely lies in Kelly’s future and potentially the child’s. Their doctor discusses the possibility of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) with Kelly and David. Should Kelly and David pursue in vitro fertilization (IVF) and PGD or not?
