Lab #: Data Matlab, engineering homework help

Lab #: Data Matlab

Objectives

Following completion of today’s lab, you should be able to:

  • Create and manipulate arrays
  • Write scripts to automate execution of commands
  • Create functions
  • Plot and analyze data

Laboratory Exercises

Follow the instructions below, and enter your work in the Lab Report Template. You may want to refer to your textbook and the handouts on the ME 30 website to help you do the exercises. For all exercises, to have a shot at getting full credit you must include your source code and evidence that your program operates properly. If you cannot get your program working, don’t fake a correct output! Lab

Use MatLab to do the following problems.

Part 1

  • Go to the Department of Commerce Data Hub (https://data.commerce.gov/). Use four different datasets covering at least 20 years which you find interesting. Export those datasets as CSV (Comma Separated Values), or Excel spreadsheets. If a particular dataset cannot be exported in either of these formats, it is best to find another dataset.
  • Import the data into MatLab
  • Graph the four datasets on one graph along with linear trendlines for each.

If you’re having trouble, the Burearu of Economic Analysis data set is rather interesting and relatively easy to approach (https://www.bea.gov/itable/index.cfm)

Part 2

1. Generate a script to automate Part 1. Use the import tool to help with the script generation.
