Discussion: Mass vs. Weight

You weigh yourself on a scale. But when you work out, you want to build muscle mass. The terms mass and weight are interchanged in everyday life, sometimes incorrectly. This reinforces the idea that these terms are synonyms. To scientists, though, each has a specific and different meaning.

I think mass and weight are the same thing. In America, we use the unit pounds for weighing things, but everywhere else in the world they use the unit kilograms, which is a unit of mass. This means that both mean the same thing.
