Epistemology is all about learning.  In human services much of what we do is “teaching” a new perspective or a new way to problem solve, or an alternate way of life, so that they can live healthier and more fulfilling lives.  As this is a large part of our practice, it become important to recognize how a culture prefer to learn.  Is there a particular way of learning that is supported within the culture and how might you be able to incorporate that in your practice.   Here is what I would like you to do:  google _________(your culture, ex. Chinese American) learning styles.  (so in this example it would be Chinese American Learning Styles.   Please provide the names of the five first articles/pages you get on the google search.  Do you see any similarities between them at first glance?  Anything that stands out?  Then pick one and provide a short summary of how it helps us understand more about the preferred learning style of that particular culture.

QUESTION 2: 

MOVIE TIME!!!  I want you to watch a movie from your culture.  Finding he right one will be half the battle but it is important that it is authentic (not a spoof on the culture) and that it is set in the culture.  Do not be afraid of foreign films, be a little uncomfortable and read subtitles if this gets you closer to the culture.  In all movies someone must ask for help or support of some sort.  How is that presented in the movie?  What seeks to be a special characteristic of that cultures help-seeking traditions.  Explain.  Of course also tell us the name of the movie.
