response 2

Many studies have shown boys need more kinesthetic learning compared to girls (Lehigh University, College of Education, 2017). However, traditional public schools require order, structure, and standardized procedures.  Perhaps this is what makes them less appealing to boys than girls. Brady and Eisler (1995) reviewed literature on student-teacher interactions.  They reached the conclusions that teachers interact with boys more than girls, that teachers call on boys more, and that teachers ask boys more higher-level questions.  Further, Helgeson (2017) states girls tend to be more agreeable than boys.  Therefore, they do not need as much behavioral attention.  As a thirteen-year 3rd grade teacher, I have witnessed this gender achievement gap, and upon deep thought, recognize I may be contributing to this gap absentmindedly.

An individual difference factor that may contribute to boys getting more attention from their teachers than girls is self-esteem.  If a boy with high self-esteem and confidence in his abilities receives negative feedback from his teacher, he may rationalize that the teacher is having a bad day or does not like him (Helgeson, 2017). Further, the feedback may not be taken seriously because the boy may believe he is intellectually competent in a variety of subject areas, which outshines the criticism.  Additionally, boys tend to view themselves as independent, whereas girls tend to view themselves as interdependent (Helgeson, 2017).  Therefore, a boy may be more focused on their performance compared to others, while a girl may be more focused on relationships and connections.

Aside from teachers, another social factor that may contribute to boys getting more attention than girls are parents.  In general, parents tend to have more confidence in their son’s math, science, and athletic abilities than their daughter’s (Helgeson, 2017).  Consequently, a boy’s self-perception may be higher than a girl’s, leading them to take more risks both in and out of the classroom without fear of failure or success.

Boys getting more attention and generally having higher self-confidence than girls supports gender beliefs.  Even though women outnumber men in college (Laureate Education, 2017), women still lag behind in STEM fields and are less likely to obtain leadership positions.  Moreover, women are under-represented at all levels of government (Lehigh University, College of Education, 2017).  This gap may have implications for both individuals and society as a whole.  For example, girls and women may downplay their success, while boys or men may continue pursuing a challenging path that is already well-paved and more accepted.

Assignment 1: Description of Research Methodology
Due Week 2 and worth 150 points

In this assignment, you will write an essay about the research methods and ethical implications of a social psychology study. You will get information about the study from one of the entries in the SPARQ “Solutions Catalog”, which is a web site maintained by Stanford University at SPARQ is an acronym for “Social Psychological Answers to Real-world Questions.” Each entry in the Solutions Catalog names a problem, and then offers a solution to that problem, based on a research study in social psychology.

To keep this assignment short and manageable, your only sources for this assignment should be from the SPARQ site and your course materials, such as your textbook. There is no need for you to cite any of the course materials. Therefore, no additional citations or references are needed, beyond those from the SPARQ site.

In this exercise, you will choose one of the entries in the SPARC site, and then write a two to three (2-3) page paper that meets the following requirements. Begin your paper with a short introductory statement that clearly identifies the article from the SPARQ site that you are using, as well as the corresponding research article.  Model your statement after the following example:

The article I selected from the SPARQ website is entitled “Boost Grades by Reframing Failures” (Wilson, n.d.), which summarizes a research article (Wilson & Linville, 1982) on the topic. Please note that there are two APA “in-text citations” in this example. The first citation “(Wilson, n.d.)” is an in-text citation for the SPARQ article. The SPARQ articles are undated, which means that there is no date of publication reported. The “n.d.” designation is an abbreviation for “no date”.  The second citation “(Wilson & Linville, 1982)”, is an in-text citation to the original research article. We are asking you to cite this paper for practice in using APA, but are not requiring you to read the original paper. Normally, you should cite only those articles that you actually read and used, but we’re making an exception here for the purposes of practice.  Briefly summarize the main details of your chosen social psychology research study. Identify the main research method(s) used in the study (e.g., case study, experiment, observation, etc.). Explain whether or not you believe the research methodology that the researchers used in the study was the most appropriate for the study. Provide a rationale for your response. Discuss whether or not you believe the research methodology used in the study is the one (1) method that provides researchers with the most information in general. Explain the main reasons why or why not. Explain the major ethical implications of the selected study (e.g., informed consent, debriefing, etc.). Describe the main reasons why you believe the study was or was not ethical. Provide a rationale for your response. The final section of your paper will be a reference section that contains a corresponding reference for both of the in-text citations in your introductory statement (see point #1, above). In APA-style citations, in-text citations must match up with a reference in the reference section. You can model your reference section after the following:

Wilson, T. D. (n.d.). Boost grades by reframing failures.  Retrieved from
Wilson, T. D. & Linville, P.W. (1982).  Improving the academic performance of college freshmen:  attribution therapy revisited.  Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 42 (2), 367-376. These examples follow the APA conventions for an Internet article, and a professional journal article, respectively.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements: Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are: Describe research methods that are used for studying social psychology. Develop an increased understanding of the dynamic between society and individuals. Use technology and information resources to research issues in social psychology. Write clearly and concisely about social psychology using proper grammar and mechanics.

Simple Assignment 4 Questions – Psychology

1. What are some of the implications for the development of prevention programs designed to delay the transition to fatherhood posed by the research outlined in “Teenage Fatherhood and Involvement in Delinquent Behavior?”

2. Describe the two explanations that have been offered for the link between teen fatherhood and earlier involvement in deviant behaviors, as set forth in “Teenage Fatherhood and Involvement in Delinquent Behavior.”3. As detailed in “Truth and Consequences at Pregnancy High,” describe the Living for the Young Family through Education (LYFE) program at Grace’s school.

Assignment 2: Discussion: Research Questions for Correlational and Chi-Square Designs

By the due date assigned, post your response to the prompt in the Discussion Area below. Through the end of the module, review at least two of your classmates’ responses, and offer your thoughts on their findings and any recommendations you have to enhance the discourse.

Post a behavioral research situation that could use a Pearson coefficient research study and a chi square research study. Present the rationale for each selection. Be very specific in your presentation.

Discussion: Peer-Reviewed Journal Articles

Peer-reviewed journal articles are an essential tool for students, professionals, and researchers in the human services field. Therefore, as a student in this program, you must be able to locate, utilize, and cite peer-reviewed articles. This makes it important for you to understand what it means to be peer-reviewed, how it influences published research, and how it impacts practitioners. For this Discussion, locate and select a peer-reviewed journal article from the Walden Library databases. Reflect on the importance of using peer-reviewed journal articles as a scholar-practitioner in the helping professions.

By Day 4

Post a brief description of the peer-reviewed journal article you selected. Include the title of the article, the name of the database where you located the article, and a link to the article. Then, explain the criteria you used to evaluate whether the journal article you selected was peer-reviewed. Finally, explain the importance of using peer-reviewed journal articles, such as the one you selected, as a scholar-practitioner in your area of practice.

Reminder: Be sure to support your posting and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources and/or current literature. Use APA formatting to cite references in your posting and responses.

Healthcare Paper Milestone 3

Emanuel Medical Center: Crisis in the Health Care

Direction : Please respond to this post 200 word with one reference

When counseling a  sex offender who was charged with sex with a minor, sexual molestation,  and exhibitionism I would first want to know the circumstances. I would  want to know the age of the minor, the details about the sexual  molestation charge and the exhibitionism. There are times when an 18  year old has sex with a 17 year old, that is legally a minor and this  would constitute sexual molestation. If nude photos were sent via social  media that could be considered exhibitionism. In my opinion the age of  the offender and the victim do sway how I would feel. If the offender  was a grown man and the victim a child then I would have a hard time  counseling them, as a parent I would think of my own children. However, I  would put my personal feelings aside and keep my judgments to myself.  The offender being ordered by the court to attend counseling could also  affect the outcome. If they do not want help and are only attending  because the court requires it, then they may not benefit from  counseling.

Exhibitionism can be conceptualized as a disorder from the stage of  nonverbal interaction (Hopkins, Green, Carnes & Campling, 2016).  Those who partake in exhibitionism often had problematic sexual  behaviors in their adolescent years (Hopkins, et al., 2016). Discovering  the root of the reason why the offender takes part in this would be a  priority. How to they feel? What do they can? What behaviors can they do  instead of these acts? Exhibitionism typically begins around age 11-15  (Hopkins, et  al., 2016). I would ask when the behavior started and if there was any  traumatic experiences that resulted in the behavior beginning? If there  were then those would need to be addressed and any feelings about that  dealt with. Exhibitionist often have substance abuse issues, commit  incest, have been sexually abused early in life, and have been  physically abused (Hopkins, et al., 2016). Discussing why the offender  participated in the charges against them and their past history of  substance use, sexual relations, and abuse could help them to find the  reason why they partake in the acts that have resulted in the charges.  If they are willing to work through their past and want to change then  they could overcome these behaviors.

Working toward final paper

Let’s start thinking about your Week 6 final paper – Cultural Perspectives. For that paper, you will choose one particular diversity-related issue to explore in depth. For this written assignment, think of possible diversity-related issues that could be used for your Final Paper.  Instructions:

First, identify three different types of diversity situations or cultural dilemmas based on different types of cultural and group associations. These diversity situations or dilemmas are your topics.

The following are guidelines for choosing your three separate diversity-related issues: Select topics that are reflective of diversity issues as we have been discussing in this course. The situations or dilemmas should demonstrate a cultural clash between at least two socio-cultural groups and have the potential for debate.

This video provides a tour of the University of the Rockies Library. Select topics that are current and possibly in the news. Select topics that can be researched to find out about them more in-depth.

Second, in addition to readings, media, website resources, and personal experiences, use ProQuest and EBSCOhost to find THREEappropriate scholarly articles to support your topics. Review the Library Tour video as well as the vidoes for searching EBSCOhost and Proquest to get started. At least one article should come from ProQuest, and one article should come from EBSCOhost. Searching Techniques: EBSCOhost (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. Searching Techniques: Proquest (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

Third, write a 660-1320 word paper (not including title page) that briefly discusses the following for each of your selected topics:  Describe the diversity situation or cultural dilemma and your interest in this topic. Describe the cultural groups impacted by this topic. What are some of the societal and historical forces which might have created this situation or dilemma? Provide one argument from each perspective regarding the topic.

Remember to cite the articles you found using ProQuest and EBSCOhost (use this APA formatted template (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for assistance).
