Pulmonary function tests today show an FEV1/FVC of 80% with an FEV1 90% of predicted. Instructions:

This 2000 word written assignment has two distinct parts that you should address separately. Please use headings for each part.

You do not need to provide an introduction or a conclusion for the written assignment or any of the parts.

There are two family scenarios for you to choose from; select ONE scenario and use this for your entire assignment.

Part 1 – Nursing Care of the Family: Assessment (500 words)

 Create a genogram to visually depict the family’s structure. You must use the PowerPoint slide which will be supplied to you within the Assessment Folder on [email protected] course site to create your genogram. Save the slide as a picture file (*.jpeg), and insert the picture into your document.

   Below the genogram, summarise the structure of the family to demonstrate your understanding of the family assessment findings.    Use the Australian Family Strengths Nursing Assessment Guide ( AFSNAG) to identify and briefly describe two (2) strengths of the family you are assessing.

Part 2 – Nursing Care of the Family: Planning, Implementing and Evaluating (1,500 words)

   Select two (2) issues/challenges for the family or a member of the family you have selected. These issues may be identified by the nurse, family or both. These can be health, social, or developmental family issues/challeng es e.g., breastfeeding, social isolation, transition to parenting; they should not be ‘medical’ issues e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure.

   For each issue/challenge identified in the family assessment ( allow approximately 750 words per issue ):  a) Describetheissue

b) Plannursingcare

c) Implement nursing care

d) Evaluate nursing care

o Use appropriate evidence from scholarly literature to describe the issue and discuss what is known about the issue/challenge.

o Provide a relevant nursing goal and justify the goal ( explain why it is relevant to the issue) using appropriate evidence or policies.

o Outline one nursing intervention that supports the family to achieve the goal. Each nursing intervention should be supplemented by the recommendation of an existing online resource for the family and an appropriate referral.

Address validity, reliability, and applicability. Describe strategies to take if outcomes do not provide positive results. Describe implications for practice and future research.

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

DQ5-1

Select two of the following discussion questions for your discussion response. Indicate which questions you have chosen using the format displayed in the “Discussion Forum Sample.” As with all disorders, it is essential to determine the root cause of endocrine disorders. What are primary, secondary, and tertiary disorders? Compare the differences among primary, secondary, and tertiary forms of hyposecretion and hypersecretion. The hypothalamic-pituitary system is the main controlling factor for normal endocrine function. What are some of the common ways for this finely balanced system to become unstable? Explain how the circadian rhythm is related to cortisol secretion from the adrenal cortex. What factors cause disturbances in this system?

at least 250 words. with reference no older than 5 years and intext citation

Pamphlet and written summary due Saturday at 7:00 est

To prepare for this assignment view the following brief video from the American Medical Association titled, “Health Literacy and Patient Safety: Help Patients Understand.” The video can be accessed through the following link:

Part I: Pamphlet

Develop a pamphlet to inform parents and caregivers about environmental factors that can affect the health of infants.

Use the “Pamphlet Template” document to help you create your pamphlet. Include the following:

Select an environmental factor that poses a threat to the health or safety of infants.

Explain how the environmental factor you selected can potentially affect the health or safety of infants.

Offer recommendations on accident prevention and safety promotion as they relate to the selected environmental factor and the health or safety of infants.

Offer examples, interventions, and suggestions from evidence-based research. A minimum of three scholarly resources are required.

Provide readers with two community resources, a national resource, and a Web-based resource. Include a brief description and contact information for each resource.

In developing your pamphlet, take into consideration the healthcare literacy level of your target audience.

Part II: Pamphlet Sharing Experience

Share the pamphlet you have developed with a parent of an infant child. The parent may be a person from your neighborhood, a parent of an infant from a child-care center in your community, or a parent from another organization, such as a church group with which you have an affiliation.

Provide a written summary of the teaching / learning interaction. Include in your summary:

Demographical information of the parent and child (age, gender, ethnicity, educational level).

Description of parent response to teaching.

Assessment of parent understanding.

Your impressions of the experience; what went well, what can be improved.

Submit Part I and Part II of the Accident Prevention and Safety Promotion for Parents and Caregivers of Infants assignment by the end of Topic 1.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Some Instructions

In this class you will be assessing an adult each week.  You may not use a patient from your work (we do not want you to violate HIPAA), but need to choose someone from your private life—a family member, friend, coworker or fellow student, to be your “assessment buddy”.  It must be an adult because medical history questions will be asked, and a child might be unable to answer them.  You may select a different adult each week, and in fact might want to select someone with health problems in the area we are covering in a particular week—someone with COPD when we study the respiratory system, for instance.

Please note that the e-book does not have page numbers and some students have preferred a hard copy due to the nature of assignments in the course.  On the other hand, one can search for specific words in the e-book, making it easy to find content.  Either version will work, so select the format that is best for your learning style.  Textbook rental or the purchase of used books are an economical way of getting access to the book.

Case Study: Descriptive Epidemiology

If you read the “Health” page (either paper or web-based) of any major news source (e.g., The New York Times, CNN),  reports of the occurrence of health outcomes are common headlines. For  example, you may see the following or similar headlines:

“Breast Cancer Increasing in Asian-American Women”
“Teenage Smoking at an All-Time Low”

Have you ever wondered where this information comes from and what it really means?

Governmental agencies and other organizations routinely  collect descriptive epidemiological statistics on many health outcomes.  For example, statistics on the occurrence of cancer in the United  States have been continuously collected since the early 1970s through  the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program of the  National Cancer Institute.

For this Case Study Assignment, you will analyze and  interpret descriptive epidemiologic statistics. To prepare for this  Assignment, review the material presented in the textbook.

A case study worksheet will be provided by your  instructor for this Assignment in the form of a Microsoft Word document.  Download the worksheet and type your answers directly into the document  to complete the Assignment. Be sure that your completed worksheet  contains your responses to all questions.

Prior to submitting your Descriptive Epidemiology Case Study, review the Module 2 Case Study Assignment Rubric.

Nursing Research Questions – Last minute request

Describe a research proposal.  What is the purpose of a proposal? What does it mean to replicate a research study?  Is replication a good or bad idea in nursing research?  Why or why not? What study will you use to replicate in your proposal?  Why did you choose to replicate this study for your proposal?
